Working with Brian Propp
(1987 Stanley Cup Finals, a Time to Remember)

A few months back, I was fortunate to come in contact with Philadelphia Flyers Hall of Famer & NHL great Brian Propp. Brain played eleven seasons of his fifteen year NHL career with the Philadelphia Flyers. One of the most memorable and successful seasons he had during his years in Philadelphia was in 1987 where he not only set a team record for most points in a single playoff season but was instrumental in leading his team to the brink of knocking off the Edmonton Oilers in what many consider the greatest Stanley Cup Finals of all time. Although every goal he scored was important, no goal was bigger or came at a more clutch time than his game tying goal in what most fans consider one of the greatest Flyers games ever, game 6.

 I was 16 years old in 1987 and anyone who knows me, knows how much this series and those who played have inspired me. Even to this day, when I see our modern athletes facing adversity and simply giving up. I am reminded of the heroic efforts of this team who while facing one of the greatest NHL teams ever assembled, never gave up even when faced with a 3-1 series deficit. This team and their efforts epitomized the “never say die” attitude and left an impression on me that I will never forget.I had been fortunate enough to meet Brian a few times over the years as a young fan but it was a real honor just to be able to sit down with him one on one and talk on a more professional level. I was even more honored that he would think enough of my talents to commission me to create and image depicting his historic Game 6 goal which I recently completed.
